The poem is called "Basketball" and it is written by Patrick Michael Cassidy.
Well basketball is my favorite sport and I believe basketball is what I suceed in the most.
The poem is about fame. A kid airballs a free-throw to come within one point. Then the coach calls a timeout and the kid says he wants the ball back to make up for his prevous airball. the kid mentioned he wanted to steal the inbounds pass and hit a three pointer to put his team ahead. So his team steals the pass and he got another oppurtunity to win the game for his team. He missed his first attempt, but his team got the rebound and gave him another shot and he made it and his team won. In a nut shell that is what the poem is saying. Kinda lame, but it worked out for me.

I enjoy writing and am very eagar to learn all the different styles of writing. The papers for this class seem to be slowing me down a little bit, the style and how the papers are suppose to be written are killing me. I have never been srong with quoting things and using MLA citation style. It seems other students are not doing to bad on writing the papers for the class. I indeed need to meet with Nancy on a weekly basis to stay ahead on the writing assignments. If there are any other students who are in the same boat, feel free to drop me a line and tell me your experience with writing papers in this class. I also enjoy hearing other peoples opinions and what not.

"One dollar and eighty-seven cents"
This is a quote on page 165.
This quote reminded me of when my dad was growing up. Back when he was a kid one dollar and eighty-seven cents was a ton of money for a kid. Today, people would be lucky to but a pop for that amount. I think it goes to show how much the world and societies have changed over the last few decades. People should always keep in mind to be grateful and thankful for what you have. There are a ton of people who would die to have that much money.

I was thinking the other day about reading and I really want to start being a better reader. Does anybody have any advice as to were I should start, so I can accomplish the goal? I know many people who really enjoy a good book or magazine. I enjoy sporting magazines, but I would like to read abook on my own and enjoy it, instead of doing it because I have to. Any advice helps, thanks!!!!

"All you have to do is close your eyes and wait for the symbols"
This is a quote from Tennessee Williams, it can be found on page 206 underneath the title.
Well the interesting thing about this quote is I have no idea what the quote means or is trying to say. I was sitting here thinking about the quote and sometimes it is cool not knowing what the quote is trying to say. There is beauty in alot of things and I believe this is one of them. Well, I would guess the quote is trying to say if you close your eyes then you will visualize certain signs or symbols in life. Maybe somebody would visualize good carma lol.

"Then everybody's luck begins to run out"
This is a quote from John Updike. The quote is on page 17 and it begins the second to last paragraph on the page.
Well I have had some bad luck in my life with certan things...the law to be exact. I seem to always catch bad luck when I'm driving. I always hear of people geting let off the hook from cops with driving in what not. I have never caught any luck or breaks from police. So, the quote makes me think that someday other people who catch breaks will eventually run out on them and they will get a ticket. I know seems harsh but life is not always fair.

so, today i was reading my anthroplogy book and I'm three chapters behind and we have a test a week from friday over five chapters. So my reading experience today wasn't very good because I was distracted too easily. I was in the learning center and my phone kept going off and I was not able to focus on the reading task I set for myself before I went home. I have tried to read with headphones on before, but that doesn't allow me to learn the information. Why do I have this problem???
